the ACT.
-
Take the SAT IIs in the courses and key areas in which you have completed

12th Grade

Collect your family's financial documents.
-
Sit down with your parents and complete the FAFSA. Submit the FAFSA as soon
as possible. The FAFSA must be submitted before the due date to qualify for
most state and federal aid.
-
Check with your guidance counselor and the personnel at your target schools
to be sure that you have all of the additional financial aid forms to qualify
for additional school, state, and private financial aid. Be sure to complete
and submit these forms before the stated deadlines.
-
Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) for accuracy and completeness. If there
are any changes, make them now, and make a copy before submitting the form.
Be sure that you have selected all of your target schools to receive a copy
of the SAR.
-
Decide on the college or university that you will attend this semester. Check
to be sure you have received both admissions and financial aid award letters.
Notify your choice college of your decision to matriculate.
-
Take SAT II exams if high scores will allow you to place out of academic
requirements for entering freshmen or will help you to place into advanced
courses.
-
Estimate your college costs and your sources of financial aid. If your sources
of aid don't meet your estimated expenses for the upcoming year, begin
investigating loan opportunities. Take time to estimate what your financial
needs will be for the next four years (the gap between your financial resources
and the estimated annual cost of college). Plan now for meeting this gap
for each of the next four years.
